Student internships and college grad opportunities

We’re committed to learning and development at every level, so it’s important to our teams that we recruit and develop our next generation of Databricks leaders. Our University Program ensures that interns and new college grads play an integral role in developing our Platform, while participating in fun events to get to know each other and the larger Databricks team.

Lunch-and-learns and donut meetings with the team were a great way to learn about a wide range of topics like company culture, career growth, life advice, and to get to know the people you're working with.

At Databricks, I was able to participate in not one, but two hackathons in twelve weeks. Unlike most companies, at Databricks all engineers participate in hackathons and all of our standard work grinds to a halt for two entire days. Not only was it a nice change of scenery from my regular intern project but I actually ended up working with some staff engineers on my second project who had been at Databricks forever. It was pretty surreal to be able to collaborate side by side with them as we worked on implementing our feature, which involved diving deep into how Spark execution works. After all, the unofficial wisdom at Databricks says that “all of our popular features come from Hackathons”!

If I had to describe my time at Databricks in one word, I'd say ownership; you really are the owner of your project. I had full control over the design and course of the project and could change the direction as it made sense. I was fully trusted to do that!

I’ve been so impressed with how caring and expressive my teammates are! They made me feel comfortable asking *any* question and helped me overcome my imposter syndrome. They really embody the culture of collaboration and ownership here.
