The Databridge Platform: Connecting Data Silos Seamlessly With Databricks

We introduce the Databridge Platform, a solution developed by Rakuten Group, Inc. to address the significant data management challenges inherent in their vast global ecosystem. Rakuten faces issues such as data and infrastructure silos, complex data access procedures and data duplication.Built on the Databricks ecosystem, the Databridge Platform leverages technologies like Unity Catalog, Data Access Management Service (DAMS) and AI/BI Genie. Its architecture prioritizes a single workspace for ease of setup while retaining flexibility for dedicated tenant workspaces. The platform's strategic roadmap includes a proof of concept by March 2026, a production release by June 2026, and a long-term goal of achieving 100% connected data warehouse federation by 2028, ultimately unlocking enhanced AI capabilities and driving cross-business growth through improved data utilization.
