Imagine a world where you can try Delta Lake easily with only one simple SQL command when your data is originally stored as Apache Iceberg tables without converting the underlying Iceberg data files. Now, this has become a reality. We introduced and open sourced Shallow Clone support from Iceberg to Delta tables in Delta Lake 2.3.0.

In this session, we want to discuss how to use Shallow Clone to try Delta tables when your data is stored as Iceberg tables. Furthermore, after testing out Delta Lake features, you can continue to use Convert to Delta to migrate from Apache Iceberg to Delta Lake for your production workload. We will demo the use cases and workflows in Delta Lake and deep dive into the Delta Lake architecture for Shallow Clone from Iceberg tables.
