Several years ago, Corning embarked on a data transformation to address the limitations of our existing legacy reporting solutions. The strategy aims to optimize our use of data by shifting from batch-oriented, siloed data architectures to more scalable, cloud-based platforms. The approach centers on the Databrick Data Intelligence Platform, which serves as the core data platform. However, a challenge arose in providing the same end-user experience with our legacy solutions - the need for more support for multi-dimensional datasets. After evaluating alternatives, we selected the combination of Databricks and AtScale, which provides seamless integration to deliver multi-dimensional views, OLAP capabilities, and native Excel integration, enhancing data analysis and user experience without requiring calculation time.
