Principal Cybersecurity Engineer at HSBC
Ryan Harris is a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer at HSBC. For over 20 years he has leveraged data to disrupt the operations of threat actors focused on the financial services industry, preventing hundreds of millions of dollars in fraud. He utilizes his experience in penetration testing, reverse engineering, and forensics to understand the motivations, techniques, and breadcrumbs that a miscreant leaves behind. Prior to working in banking, he was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. He has a degree in Cognitive Science and Computer Science from the University of Virginia. At HSBC, he is a founding member of the Global Cybersecurity Science and Analytics Team, focusing on transforming security into a data-driven organization. In this role, he focuses on designing and building complex cloud-native environments that process and analyze petabytes of security-related data streams to thwart malicious activity.
