Enterprise readiness starts with the right account tier and controls. Premium or above is required, along with Unity Catalog and solid identity management. Automatic Identity Management (AIM) replaces SCIM-style sync scripts by pulling identities and nested groups directly from the identity provider in real time with just-in-time provisioning at login. AIM is GA for Entra across clouds and in public preview for Okta on AWS and GCP.

Entitlements must match a non-technical audience. The consumer role, now GA, gives least-privileged access to chat with Genie One, use Agent Bricks, view AI/BI Dashboards, and open Databricks Apps, without the ability to create clusters, Databricks Notebooks, AI/BI Dashboards, or other costly assets. A one-time migration flow updates the default group so new users land in the consumer role, while preserving existing users' permissions.

Business users prefer tools that meet them in familiar workflows. Enterprise mobile rollouts benefit from coordination with IT on SSO, IP access lists, VPN controls, and MDM distribution. The mobile app follows the same trusted security protocols as the rest of the Databricks Platform.

A consumer audience needs a space that feels like the company, not a developer portal. Admins can apply brand colors and logos, publish markdown announcements, and pin key assets such as dashboards and Agent Bricks so the most important content is always one click away. Move to unified consumption pricing with strong guardrails

Genie is moving off questions-per-minute throttles to token-based, consumption pricing that aligns with the broader platform. Every user receives 150 DBUs free each month, roughly 10.50 USD in us-east. Internal simulations suggest about 80 percent of users will incur no cost. The median question costs about 10 cents, which roughly translates to 100 business-user questions per month or about one Genie Code session per day within the free tier.

Cost controls are built in. Unity AI Gateway now governs Genie usage with hard or soft caps at the user, group, workspace, and account levels, along with a cost monitoring dashboard and email alerts. Billing consolidates under the serverless real-time inference SKU, so existing discounts apply across Genie One, Agent Bricks, and Genie Code. A practical policy is to cap most business users at the free tier and grant targeted overrides to power users or funded lines of business. Service principals do not receive a free tier, so pass a real user ID when possible and set explicit caps for automated workloads.
