Get started with Lakebase

In this course, you'll explore Databricks Lakebase, a fully managed PostgreSQL service built into the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform that brings operational (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) workloads closer together. You'll start with how transactional and analytical systems differ in performance, storage, and use cases, and the challenges of maintaining them separately, including data movement, latency, and added complexity. From there, you'll see how Lakebase addresses these challenges with a fully managed PostgreSQL operational database that integrates directly with the Lakehouse, so operational applications and analytics work together on one platform. As a Get Started course, the focus is on the core concepts and basic workflows for working with Lakebase.
