Implementing Data Governance with Unity Catalog

This hands-on course equips learners with the skills to design, implement, and manage catalog structures and large-scale data organization using Unity Catalog in Databricks. Participants will learn to configure secure and scalable storage integrations, as well as implement access controls and isolation strategies for effective data governance.

Note: Hands-on training courses will be updated to reflect the newest product and feature announcements from Data + AI Summit in June 2026. 

Prerequisites

  • Familiarity with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, including workspaces and notebooks
  • Intermediate SQL experience, including creating tables, views, and functions, and managing database object permissions
  • Understanding of Unity Catalog's hierarchical object model (metastore, catalogs, schemas, tables, volumes, models)
  • Basic understanding of data governance concepts, including access control, row-level security, column masking, and fine-grained access controls
  • Basic knowledge of data lineage, metadata management, and cloud computing concepts (compute, storage, identity management)
