Modernizing data governance at Thailand’s oldest bank to prepare for an AI-first world

Founded in 1907, Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) is Thailand's oldest bank and Asia’s third oldest operational bank. In 2022, SCB executed a landmark transformation, restructuring into a holding-company structure under SCBX. This shift separated the organization into 12 core subsidiaries —dramatically increasing the complexity of data governance, data security, and data quality across the group.Today, SCBX operates its enterprise data platform on Databricks, supporting more than 1,000 daily active users, 30,000+ production jobs, 6,000+ governed tables and an aspiration to scale data quality to 20,000+ rules.This session outlines how SCBX's Data Governance CoE is leveraging Databricks Unity Catalog to design and scale enterprise-wide data governance within the organization.
