We are thrilled to announce the opening of Databricks’ latest development center in Belgrade, Serbia. This addition joins our existing R&D centers in Amsterdam, Bengaluru, Berlin, San Francisco, and Seattle, playing a pivotal role in the future trajectory of our product and engineering expansion.

Starting today, we invite world-class engineers to join our Belgrade founding team, whether you are currently based in the region or residing overseas and hoping to return home.

At Databricks, we are passionate about enabling data teams to solve the world's toughest problems — from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating the development of medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world's best data and AI infrastructure platform so our customers can use deep data insights to improve their business. Building this platform requires world-class talent.

Serbian engineers have left an indelible mark on the world, with luminaries such as Nikola Tesla or Mihajlo Pupin shaping our modern landscape. In recent years, Serbia's thriving tech ecosystem has become one of the backbones of advances in databases, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence — the very pillars upon which Databricks was established and continues to innovate. We are eager to draw upon the region's rich vein of technical expertise.

To bootstrap the site, we are thrilled to welcome Dragan Tomic to the Databricks family. With over two decades of experience at Microsoft's renowned database group and as a founding member of Microsoft Development Center Serbia (MDCS), Dragan will serve as the VP of Engineering and lead our Belgrade site.

Accompanying Dragan are Ivan Mitic and Tamara Novkovic. Ivan most recently was responsible for the performance and efficiency of Meta’s internal data warehousing systems. After over a decade in the United States, Ivan will return to his roots in Belgrade to join the Databricks site. Tamara is an experienced recruiter that helped build out TomTom and Microsoft’s local development teams.

We are excited about the region’s future in our continued growth, as well as our role in the region’s future. We can't wait to see the great things that our Belgrade center will accomplish. Join us as Belgrade site founding members to realize this future! Join us as Belgrade site founding members to realize this future!
