At this year’s Data + AI Summit, we introduced Databricks One, a new experience that brings the power of data and AI to every employee through a clear and focused user interface. That announcement began our journey to remove barriers that have limited insights to technical teams working in specialist tools.
Today, Databricks One enters Public Preview. Available across all clouds, this milestone represents a significant step toward true democratization, where deep insights and AI-driven analysis are no longer the domain of specialists but part of every employee's work.
Organizations have long struggled to extend the reach and benefits of data and AI beyond technical teams. Business users often face steep barriers: costly BI licenses, a fragmented tool landscape, inconsistent definitions of KPIs from one team to the next, and long waits for support from technical experts. These obstacles limit adoption and prevent data from shaping everyday decisions.
Databricks One directly addresses this gap. It provides a simple, unified experience where every employee can engage with trusted insights in a governed environment. Business users gain the ability to ask questions in plain language through Genie, explore AI/BI Dashboards grounded in consistent metrics, and interact with purpose-built Databricks Apps, all without specialized training.
For administrators and IT teams, Databricks One reduces cost and complexity. A single entitlement makes it possible to onboard large groups of business users quickly, while Unity Catalog ensures consistent governance, access controls, and auditability. The result is broader adoption without compromising security or trust. Best of all, Databricks One is included for free as part of the Data Intelligence Platform.
By bridging the divide between practitioners and business users, Databricks One helps organizations realize the full value of their data estate. It turns analytics and AI into shared infrastructure that informs decision-making at every level, enabling enterprises to operate with greater alignment and agility.
The Public Preview of Databricks One introduces several important enhancements to all clouds that expand access and simplify use:
A streamlined and AI-enhanced experience. A redesigned homepage surfaces AI-suggested content, elevating the most relevant assets to be front-and-center for users. Users can directly ask questions to Genie spaces from the homepage, getting them into the flow of work more quickly. And unified search and list views make it easier to find dashboards, Genie spaces, and Databricks Apps in one familiar experience.
Broader access. Databricks One is now available to all users of Databricks workspaces. Business users with the consumer access entitlement see only the streamlined Databricks One interface, while practitioners and administrators can switch freely between the new Databricks One experience and the familiar authoring experience using the newly introduced app switcher in the top-right of the UI.
Simplified onboarding. With the “Consumer access” entitlement, administrators can provision large groups of business users to get a Databricks One-only experience quickly and consistently. Unity Catalog governance applies across the experience, ensuring security, permissions, and auditability remain intact.
No licenses required. Databricks One is included for all Databricks customers.
Together, these updates make Databricks One easier to adopt at scale and extend the reach of data and AI across the enterprise.
The private preview of Databricks One saw remarkable adoption, with more than 500 customers enabling Databricks One. Early engagement has demonstrated strong demand for a simpler, governed experience that reaches beyond technical teams.
One customer, ObjectiveHealth, described the impact on their clinical research teams:
“With Databricks One, our research teams finally got a unified, intuitive home for our AI/BI Dashboards and Genie Spaces. It's everything clinical researchers need, all in one place. Pairing that with serverless workspaces made the experience even more seamless: zero infrastructure to manage, instant scaling, and predictable performance. It's been a game-changer for our sites’ productivity with data.”— Josh O’Rourke, CTO, ObjectiveHealth
Another early adopter, Embold Health, highlighted the value Databricks One brings to governance and scale:
“The potential to centralize permissions and reduce dashboard sprawl with Databricks One could fundamentally change how we manage enterprise analytics.”— Adam Wallace, Director of Data Engineering, Embold Health
Paradigm, a software provider serving the building products industry, highlighted the simplicity Databricks One brings to their customer experience:
“Databricks One gives our customers a clean interface that removes distractions and keeps the focus where it belongs- on Dashboards and Genie Spaces.”— Daniel Cardin, Director of Data Engineering, Paradigm
These early results underscore the value of Databricks One in practice, showing how organizations are using it to broaden access, accelerate decision-making, and improve productivity with data.
Public Preview is only the beginning. In the months ahead, we will extend Databricks One with capabilities that make it even easier to find and use the right insights. Planned updates include:
