Across industries, employees spend hours searching for insights hidden across dashboards or waiting for data to be surfaced in the right tool. Even when data is available, acting on it often requires switching contexts between analytics and productivity apps.
Now, with Microsoft Agent 365 and Azure Databricks, that gap closes.
Microsoft Agent 365 introduces a new way for enterprises to “hire” digital coworkers that collaborate across Microsoft 365. By integrating with Azure Databricks, these digital “coworkers” are intelligent, data-aware Agents that understand your business, grounded in governed data from Unity Catalog.
When Microsoft presented Agent 365, they shared the vision of enabling users to hire agents that perform specialized work inside Teams, Outlook, and Office apps. The opportunity for Databricks to expand this offering was clear. By bringing the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform on Azure into Agent 365, organizations can unlock governed, real-time insights for every employee, without moving data or breaking compliance.
Imagine asking a Databricks Agent in Teams: “What are last quarter’s margins for our top products?” The Agent responds instantly with accurate numbers and context, drawn directly from your live Azure Databricks data. No copies, no exports, no delays.
Agent 365 provides a secure environment for first-party and third-party agents to collaborate with users across Microsoft 365. Each agent has an Entra ID identity and operates under your organization’s existing Microsoft Purview and Defender controls.
When connected to Azure Databricks, a Databricks Agent can retrieve data and insights directly from Unity Catalog. It can summarize metrics and even provide reasoning behind its answers. Every interaction respects enterprise governance and is traceable back to the original data source.
For users, it feels like working with a knowledgeable teammate who always has access to the most current, trustworthy data.
This integration builds on the shared foundation of trust between Microsoft and Databricks.
Together, these controls make it safe to extend data intelligence into everyday productivity tools, while maintaining the same enterprise-grade security posture that customers expect from both platforms.
Each interaction is grounded in real-time Databricks data, governed through Unity Catalog, and surfaced securely in Microsoft 365.
Agent 365 is currently available in a partner private preview announced at Microsoft Ignite 2025. Databricks is one of the first partners to join the preview, working with Microsoft to bring governed, AI-powered collaboration to enterprises.
Customers interested in exploring this new integration can contact their Databricks or Microsoft account teams to request access and start piloting use cases.
