We are thrilled to unveil the finalists for the Databricks Generative AI Startup Challenge, a competition designed to spotlight innovative early-stage startups harnessing the power of Generative AI on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. In collaboration with AWS, this challenge has attracted an impressive array of participants, all striving to push the boundaries of technology and solve real-world problems. With over $1 million in prizes and potential Databricks Ventures funding available for the three winners, the stakes are high.

Meet Our Finalists

After a rigorous selection process, we are announcing the following four startups as finalists:

ChipStack

ChipStack is tackling one of the most critical challenges in technology today: how to build complex semiconductor chips faster and better. By harnessing the power of Generative AI, ChipStack's solutions optimize the chip design and verification processes, significantly reducing time to market. Currently deployed with early partners, the platform has demonstrated significant improvements in design productivity while identifying hard-to-find issues in complex chips.

Flagler Health

Flagler Health brings a unique perspective to the healthcare sector by utilizing Generative AI to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Their innovative approach aims to improve health outcomes by streamlining processes within healthcare settings. Driven by AI-generated insights, Flagler Health connects more patients in need of clinically relevant services with healthcare providers.

Orby AI

Founded in 2022 by industry veterans with deep expertise in AI and automation, Orby AI delivers an AI agent platform that automates complex enterprise processes and enhances efficiency at scale. Powered by the industry’s first Large Action Model (LAM) and proprietary AI Agent platform, Orby empowers enterprise teams to unlock their full potential and achieve greater outcomes. By automating complex processes that require reasoning and human judgment, Orby AI allows teams to focus on higher-value, creative and strategic work.

Vevo Therapeutics

Vevo Therapeutics is mapping how drug molecules interact with cells from patients. Their innovative Mosaic platform can generate millions of biological data at single-cell resolution. This gives them the ability to build foundation models of human cell, that learn how genes and cells function in different patients. With the potential to pick better drug molecules and to pair them with the patients that are most likely to respond to them, Vevo is set to make a lasting impact on patient lives.

The Journey Ahead

As we celebrate these remarkable finalists, we are also eagerly anticipating the announcement of our winners at AWS re:Invent 2024, taking place from December 2-6 in Las Vegas. This premier global conference will serve as an exciting backdrop for unveiling our winners, who will be recognized for their innovative solutions built on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. The competition has been fierce, with each finalist demonstrating exceptional creativity, technical prowess, and potential for real-world impact. Our esteemed panel of judges including Andreessen Horowitz’s Martin Casado, IVP’s Cack Wilhelm and Databricks executives Patrick Wendell and Naveen Rao will evaluate each startup based on the quality of their solution and ability to leverage the Databricks platform effectively.
