With new OAuth capabilities in Partner Connect, you can now connect to partners without using PAT tokens. This enhancement marks a shift away from managing Personal Access Tokens (PATs), offering users a more secure and streamlined authentication experience. Additionally, by supporting U2M and M2M OAuth, we allow partners to select the setup that best fits their needs: U2M for interactive usage or M2M for automated background tasks.

Case study - Prophecy’s Partner Connect OAuth Integration

To understand the value of the new OAuth capabilities in Partner Connect, consider the updated integration with Prophecy, which now uses U2M OAuth as the default authentication method. This approach allows users to authenticate individually and access data based on their permissions in Databricks-eliminating the need for a service principal and removing the dependency on admins to configure a connection.

Testing Prophecy in Partner Connect is simple, only requiring a few steps:

1. Log in to your Databricks account and navigate to Marketplace
2. Select Prophecy within the “Partner Connect integrations” carousel
3. Create a connection to Prophecy
4. Create a new Prophecy account (or use an existing one)
5. Start using Prophecy with your Databricks data (you will be prompted to sign into Databricks when attempting to use Databricks data in Prophecy)!
