Databricks Achieves ISMAP Certification in Japan, Unlocking Secure Data Innovation for the Public Sector

Tokyo, Japan, January 28, 2026Databricks, the Data and AI company, today announced that the company has achieved Japan’s Information System Security Management and Assessment Program (ISMAP) certification, the government’s official framework for evaluating the security and reliability of cloud services. This milestone underscores Databricks’ commitment to the highest standards of data security, governance and operational excellence — empowering Japanese government agencies and public sector organizations to innovate confidently with data and AI.

ISMAP, managed by the Japanese government, sets strict standards for governance, technical security and operational transparency among cloud service providers. The certification allows public sector organizations to adopt cloud technologies backed by verified security and reliability. It covers key areas such as information management, risk and incident response, data encryption, access control, audit logging, monitoring and continuous improvement. Databricks’ registration is published on the ISMAP portal.

“Achieving ISMAP certification is a major milestone in Databricks’ long-term commitment to Japan,” said Toshifumi Sasa, VP and Country Manager, Databricks Japan. “Public sector organizations and highly regulated industries need a trusted, secure foundation for data and AI, and this certification demonstrates that Databricks meets the stringent requirements needed to support mission-critical workloads while helping customers accelerate innovation responsibly.”

“Governments across the world are under pressure to do more with data while meeting some of the world’s toughest security and compliance standards,” said Molly Just-Behr, Global Head of Public Sector, Databricks. “ISMAP certification sends a clear signal that Japanese public sector organizations can use Databricks as a trusted foundation for their most critical data and AI workloads, helping them improve services, strengthen resilience, and responsibly accelerate innovation for citizens.”

Public sector organizations worldwide, including the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Internal Revenue Service, the New South Wales State Government, and the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech), use the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to harness data and AI for better decision-making, improved service delivery, stronger security, and greater operational efficiency.
