AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - MARCH 3, 2026 - Databricks, the Data and AI company, today announced it is significantly expanding in Amsterdam with a new, 13,000 SQM, 11-storey office in The Rock tower. This new state-of-the-art office underscores the company’s continued growth across the Benelux region and rising demand for Lakebase, Databricks’ serverless Postgres database built for AI agents, and Genie, the conversational AI assistant that helps any employee to chat with their data.

The new space will house Databricks’ growing team in the Netherlands and support its ambition to house 1,000 employees over the coming years. The new space also reinforces Amsterdam’s role as a major global R&D hub for the company. Amsterdam was Databricks’ first research and development site outside the United States and remains its largest R&D centre in EMEA. Strategically located in the Zuidas district, the expanded office strengthens Databricks’ partnerships with many local customers in the region, including ABN Amro, Heineken, Shell and UMC Utrecht.

This news builds on Databricks’ recent company momentum, including the announcement of >$7B of investments in the company with a $134bn valuation, the appointment of Eva Fors as VP of Benelux and Nordics in the second half of 2025 and a sold-out Data + AI World Tour held at the RAI in Amsterdam in November 2025.

"Amsterdam has always been a very special place for Databricks. It was the first R&D site established outside the U.S. and is the largest in EMEA. New capabilities within Genie, Lakebase, and Agent Bricks will be developed here. Expanding here is a clear commitment to the exceptional engineering talent in the Netherlands and to the customers building the next generation of AI apps and agents on their data,” said Dragan Tomic, Vice President, Engineering, Databricks.

“Our expansion in Amsterdam is a highly strategic investment in the incredible team that is driving the future of data and AI,“ said Kevin Jonkergouw, RVP, Benelux, Databricks. “This state-of-the-art new office space will attract top talent, placing us at the heart of the Benelux data and AI community and inspiring our team to collaborate, innovate and deliver the best outcomes for our customers.”

Databricks expects to move into its new office in The Rock in late 2026. To bring data and AI education to more regional customers, the company will also host two Databricks AI Days in the Benelux region this spring, in Amsterdam on March 31 and Brussels on April 2. These events will share best practices for scaling Data Intelligent Applications in the enterprise.
