Prerequisites

The content was developed for participants with these skills/knowledge/abilities:

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) fundamentals, specifically Google Cloud Storage (buckets) and Projects.

• Understanding of GCP identity and security concepts, particularly Service Accounts and JSON key authentication.

• Working knowledge of the Databricks platform, including Notebooks, Compute resources, and Spark architecture (Drivers/Executors).

• Understanding of Unity Catalog governance objects, including Metastores, Catalogs, Schemas, Storage Credentials, and External Locations.

• Foundational knowledge of real-time data streaming concepts and messaging middleware like Google Cloud Pub/Sub.

• Familiarity with data warehousing principles and Google BigQuery architecture (serverless compute, datasets, and tables).

• Intermediate proficiency in PySpark for configuring read/write operations and handling DataFrames.

• Experience with SQL commands for querying data and managing database objects within a federated environment.
