Government agencies and organizations with strict compliance requirements now have expanded access to the latest Databricks AI technology and data intelligence capabilities. Today, we're announcing the availability of key strategic generative AI features in Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud (US), AWS’ isolated cloud regions designed specifically to meet U.S. government security and regulatory requirements.

Converse with your data in natural language using AI/BI Genie in Databricks One

AI/BI Genie lets anyone in your organization explore and understand data just by asking questions in plain English—no technical skills required. Business users can quickly dig deeper, refine their questions, and get answers they can trust, turning raw data into insights, visualizations, and analysis in minutes instead of days. Because Genie operates within your existing governance model that leverages Databricks Unity Catalog, teams can confidently scale self-service analytics across the organization while keeping data access secure, consistent, and fully controlled.

Genie is available in your Databricks workspace, via API, and through Databricks One, a new experience that gives business users fast and secure access to insights from data and AI. Databricks One strips out details and complexity from the user interface to present business users with clear, streamlined access to curated Genie spaces and Dashboards. Databricks One is designed to help business teams make smarter decisions without needing to navigate the same platform as technical practitioners.

Databricks-native access to Claude Sonnet 4.5

With the Databricks Foundation Model API (FMAPI) now available on AWS GovCloud, public sector customers can securely access and query state-of-the-art open models directly within their Databricks workspace, bringing powerful generative AI capabilities to mission-critical applications. For the initial launch, Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4.5 is available, with additional models coming soon. Teams can build agents in the AI Playground using FMAPI and deploy AI-powered ETL pipelines to automate document processing, improve citizen services, and accelerate research, all without ever leaving the Databricks security perimeter.

For AWS GovCloud users, AI Gateway makes it easy to use foundation models with confidence by providing full visibility into how sensitive data is used. Every interaction with a model is automatically audited and tracked, creating a clear lineage of what data was sent, by whom, and for what purpose. This gives teams the assurance they need to prevent unapproved data from being shared, quickly investigate issues, and take corrective action, without disrupting or resetting the entire model. The result is safe, controlled AI adoption, where organizations can move fast while maintaining the strict oversight and traceability required for regulated environments.

Accelerate development with Databricks Assistant

Databricks Assistant helps all users work smarter within the Databricks platform. Integrated seamlessly through the entire platform, Assistant assists with SQL and Python code generation, decodes error messages, writes documentation, optimizes queries, and explains complex data workflows in real time. Databricks Assistant accelerates productivity for every Databricks user across every Databricks feature.

For teams tackling complex data science and analytics challenges in AWS GovCloud, the Databricks Data Science Agent unlocks a far more autonomous way of working. Instead of spending days stitching together experiments, tuning models, and iterating on code, data scientists can describe the outcome they’re trying to achieve and let the agent drive the heavy lifting end to end. It accelerates exploratory analysis, model development, and experimentation into a single, guided workflow, turning what used to take hours or days into results delivered in minutes, so teams can focus on insights, decisions, and mission impact rather than manual execution.

Expand capabilities for government AI

These launches expand the platform capabilities available for government AI initiatives and build upon recent releases enabling simplified, flexible, serverless compute. Serverless SQL Warehouses, Serverless General Compute, Serverless Jobs, Serverless Notebooks, Serverless Lakeflow, Spark Declarative Pipelines, and Serverless Egress Controls are also all now in Public Preview. Together, these afford the U.S. government access to enterprise-grade innovation in highly regulated environments.
