SINGAPORE, APRIL 20, 2026 — Databricks, the Data and AI company, today announced the appointment of Simon Davies as its Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ). The region continues to be one of Databricks’ fastest-growing, achieving over 85% year-over-year growth during its Q4. As part of its investment in the region, Databricks now employs more than 1,500 people across APJ and will move into a new 32,000-square-foot Singapore headquarters at the IOI Central Boulevard Towers later this year, quadrupling its footprint.
Organizations across APJ are accelerating their adoption of AI, and Databricks continues to expand its customer base across key industries, including financial services, telecommunications, and the public sector, with new customers such as Singapore Customs, Samsung Life Insurance, and SingTel. They join leading enterprises already using Databricks in the region, including Atlassian, LG Electronics, National Australia Bank, and Toyota.
Based in Singapore, Simon will lead Databricks’ business across the region, overseeing strategy, operations, and growth across key markets including Australia & New Zealand, ASEAN, India, Japan, Korea, and the Greater China region. With more than 30 years of experience in enterprise technology, data and cloud services, he has held senior leadership roles at SAP, Splunk, Microsoft, Salesforce and Oracle. Most recently, as SAP’s Regional President for Asia Pacific, Simon led strategy, operations, people, sales, services, partners, and profitability across the region. Prior to SAP, he served as Senior Vice President & General Manager at Splunk, driving significant growth and regional expansion. Simon also advises CEOs and Boards of several high-growth technology companies on their APJ entry and market development strategies, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD).
“Simon brings not only deep regional and industry expertise but also an exceptional track record of building high-performing teams,” said Ron Gabrisko, Chief Revenue Officer at Databricks. “His leadership will be instrumental in unlocking the next phase of growth for one of our fastest-growing regions, helping APJ organizations harness the full potential of data and AI to drive powerful business transformation.”
"I’m excited to be joining Databricks at such a defining moment for APJ. This is one of the most digitally advanced and AI-ready regions in the world, where organizations are moving quickly from experimentation to scaled impact,” said Simon Davies, SVP & General Manager for APJ at Databricks. “What sets Databricks apart is its ability to combine rapid innovation with strong execution, helping customers unify their data and turn AI, apps and agents into tangible business outcomes. The opportunity ahead is significant, and I look forward to working with our teams, customers, and partners to accelerate that momentum and deliver meaningful impact across the region."
