Databricks Strengthens Presence in Korea with Senior Leadership Hires

- Former Google Cloud executive Kyungsoon Kelly Um joins as Senior Director and Technical GM

 

Seoul, Korea, July 15, 2024Databricks, the Data and AI company, today announced two senior leadership appointments in Korea, bolstering its local presence to support business growth and drive customer success.

 

Hyoungjun Anthony Kang joins as Country Head for Databricks Korea

With more than 20 years of data software and leadership experience, Hyoungjun Anthony Kang is responsible for leading Databricks’ Korean operations and driving further adoption of the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform across a range of industries. His appointment follows the company’s strong 100% year-over-year growth in Korea over the past fiscal year.

 

Prior to joining Databricks, Kang served as the Managing Director and Country Manager for Google Cloud Korea and was previously the Country Manager for Snowflake Korea. He has also held multiple leadership positions at Cloudera, Hortonworks, and Teradata, where he spearheaded business growth at these companies.

Kyungsoon Kelly Um joins as Technical GM in Korea

Kyungsoon Kelly Um joins Databricks as the Technical General Manager, bringing more than 30 years of experience helping customers implement technology solutions and supporting their digital transformation journey.

 

Um most recently served as the Director of Customer Engineering at Google Cloud Korea. Prior to this, she spent over three decades at IBM, where she held various leadership roles across the Asia Pacific region.

 

“We’re very excited to have Kelly onboard to lead our technical and field engineering team in Korea.
