We’re excited to announce the General Availability of Databricks Apps, enabling customers to securely build, deploy, and scale interactive data and AI-powered applications natively on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.
With Databricks Apps, organizations can rapidly deliver user-facing tools—from LLM copilots and data quality dashboards to team-specific ops apps—directly within the governed environment where their data and AI assets already live.
Since the launch of the Public Preview six months ago, adoption of Databricks Apps has accelerated rapidly. Customers have created over 20,000 apps across more than 2,500 organizations, showcasing the demand for secure, interactive applications built directly on Databricks.
Coding a data and AI app is only half the battle—the real challenge is deploying and managing that app in a secure and governed production environment. For many organizations, this “last mile” involves significant engineering effort just to get a single app into production: setting up authentication and SSO, managing containers and infrastructure, securing data access, integrating observability tools, configuring audit logs, and maintaining packages and environments.
These “final” steps to productionizing apps often require effort from many different teams, including DevOps, central IT, and infosec, which invariably slows things down. The end result is that apps take months to deploy and have security and governance spread across many different systems, leading to even more complexity and potential gaps.
Databricks Apps removes that complexity by providing a fully managed, serverless runtime where apps run securely within your Databricks workspace—with built-in identity, governance, and observability. Teams can focus on building the app, not the platform behind it.
Historically, turning AI and analytics into real-world business value has required moving data to external systems and managing complex infrastructure. Databricks Apps flips that model: now, your applications come to the data.
Built on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, Databricks Apps empowers teams to:
This enables data and AI teams to move quickly from concept to production-ready apps—without replatforming, duplicating data, or compromising on security.
Databricks Apps is now generally available to all customers. You can start building today with your preferred Python or JavaScript frameworks, and deploy interactive applications securely across your Databricks workspaces.
