Platform Architecture
The Databricks Data + AI Platform architecture is divided into control and compute planes to streamline permissions, eliminate data duplication and mitigate risk. The control plane is the management layer, handling the workspace application, notebooks, configuration and clusters. The compute plane is dedicated to data processing. In serverless deployments, the compute plane resides within your Databricks account instead of your cloud provider account. Databricks helps you enable data exfiltration protections at the network and application layer.
