Crucibles of Spark Knowledge
At eight Spark Summits. In six cosmopolitan cities. Across two continents. With over 10,400 attendees.
To any Apache Spark expert or enthusiast, Spark Summits, held at global cities, are crucibles of Spark knowledge. Bounded by a growing global community and drawn by an enduring belief in Spark’s proven potential in the big data landscape, attendees have convened since 2013—this time they will converge in Boston, Massachusetts.
As a Spark Community advocate and co-organizer of Bay Area Apache Spark Meetup group, there is no other summit I would rather be at to connect and converse about Spark. Like a communal thread that binds us together at these summit venues, we are drawn to hear from Spark contributors and creators: how Spark has fared, how it has evolved, what are its aspirations.
For that and much more, here are my five reasons why you should join us:
1. Keynotes from Distinguished Engineers and Industry Leaders
Distinguished engineers (Matei Zaharia, Cotton Seed, Arun Murthy) and visionary industry leaders (Ali Ghodsi, Zia Ma, Alfred Essa) in the Big Data industries will share their vision of where Apache Spark is heading in 2017; how Spark is solving real-world problems at scale in education, business, real-time advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence. You won’t want to miss two days of keynotes.
We’ve announced more must-see Keynote Speakers for Spark Summit East, including #ApacheSpark creator @matei_zaharia: https://www.databricks.com/sparkaisummit?utm_content=43876313&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

3. Apache Spark Training
Get the best training from Databricks’ best trainers, who have trained close to 3,200 summit attendees. A day dedicated to training, you can choose from two technical courses and stay abreast with the latest in Spark 2.x: Data Science with Apache Spark 2.x and Exploring Wikipedia with Apache Spark 2.x.

4. The Boston Apache Spark Meetup
Apache Spark Meetups are reputed for tech-talks. At Spark Summits’ meetups, you learn what other Spark developers from all over are up to, mingle and enjoy the beverages and camaraderie in an informal setting, and ask burning questions.
5. Best Brews in Boston
A city famed for its reputed seats of learning, baseball and basketball teams, Boston also shared with us an enduring and entertaining cultural gem, “Cheers,” so after long day of cerebral Spark sessions, why not chill and have the best brew at one of Boston’s best pubs.
After a three-day Spark fest in Boston, you’ll have sharpened your saw with Spark knowledge; you’ll have forged enduring professional relationships with Spark enthusiasts; and you’ll have appreciated the best brew of Boston with friends—not to mention memories of moments to share with others.
