When you use the Platform Services or certain Sites, we use standard automated data collection tools such as Cookies, Web Beacons, and other anonymous identifiers for the purposes described below.

“Cookies” are small text files that are placed on your hard drive by a web server when you access our Sites. Cookies may either be first party cookies (placed by us) or third party cookies (placed by third parties), and there are a few different types (described in the table below).

“Web beacons” (also known as web bugs, pixel tags or clear GIFs) are tiny graphics with a unique identifier that may be included on our Sites for several purposes, including to deliver or communicate with cookies, to track and measure the performance of our Sites and to monitor how many visitors view our Sites. Unlike cookies, which are stored on the user’s hard drive, web beacons are typically embedded invisibly on web pages (or in an e-mail).

What other anonymous identifiers do you use and what do they do?

Certain of our Sites use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. Google Analytics makes use of cookies to help Databricks analyze how users use our Sites. The information generated by the cookies about your use of our Sites (including your IP address) and collected through Google Analytics (“Google Analytics Data”) may be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use the Google Analytics Data on behalf of Databricks for the purpose of evaluating your use of our Platform Services and Sites, compiling reports for Databricks on our Platform Services and Sites and providing other services to Databricks relating to the Platform Services and Sites activity and internet usage. What control do I have over tracking and cookies?

When you visit our Sites, depending on where you are located, we may show you a notice which tells you how and why we use certain cookies and provide you the ability to opt out of certain cookie use (other than technical cookies necessary to provide our Sites and Platform Services).
